Alexander Mooney is a writer and filmmaker based in Toronto.

His essays, interviews, and criticism have appeared in Reverse Shot, Sight and Sound, The Globe and Mail, Filmmaker Magazine, Screen Slate, In Review Online, Toronto Star, The Walrus, The Brooklyn Rail, and Documentary Magazine. His column “Replications” explores remakes and retellings at In The Mood Magazine. He is a member of GALECA, the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, and the recipient of the 2025 Telefilm Canada Emerging Critic award.

He is a communications assistant at Innis College, and works as a freelance copywriter primarily for small businesses.
