Alexander Mooney is a writer and filmmaker based in Toronto.

His essays, interviews, and criticism have appeared in Reverse Shot, Sight and Sound, BOMB, Filmmaker, Documentary, The Walrus, The Globe and Mail, In Review Online, Screen Slate, and The Brooklyn Rail. His column “Replications” explores remakes and retellings at In The Mood Magazine. He is a member of GALECA, the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, and the winner of the 2025 Telefilm Canada Emerging Critic award.

He is a communications assistant at Innis College, and works as a freelance copywriter primarily for small businesses.
